Become a member of our "proton pack"

“Suit up, have fun, make a difference.”

The South Dakota Ghostbusters are actively seeking new members to join the team in 2026 and beyond. If you’re interested, please carefully review the following guidelines and expectations before applying for the Proton Pack Rookie Program.

• Applicants must be 18 years or older and reside in South Dakota.
   
• Reliable transportation is essential. Members must attend at least two official events per year.
   
• Maintain proper hygiene and respectful behavior. Obscenities or inappropriate gestures are not acceptable, especially around children.
   
• A Facebook or Discord account is required, as these are the primary communication platforms for the team.
   

• Members should be approachable, social, and maintain a friendly attitude.
   
• Avoid responding to negative comments or situations, and remain in character when appropriate.
   
• Discourage adult quotes from the films in inappropriate settings, especially around younger audiences.
   
• Uphold the group’s reputation by ensuring events maintain a PG-13 tone.
   

• Commit to attending a minimum of two official events annually and maintain reliable transportation.
   
• Maintain open communication with the group and provide advance notice if you are unable to attend an event.
   
• Discuss event participation with the group before committing to or representing the team.
   

• Strive for accuracy in costumes and props, following officially published Ghostbusters lore.
   
• Non-canon, interpretive, or outside-lore costumes, characters, or equipment are not permitted.
   
• Ghostbuster costumes must meet specific criteria, including accurate flight suits, patches, and approved optional equipment. Halloween costumes are not acceptable and must be real flight suits.
   
• A flight suit is not required to join initially. Once accepted as a member, you will be required to obtain either an accurate suit or an approved character costume.
   
• Members are encouraged to eventually acquire a proton pack or slime blower.
   
• All jumpsuits and gear must be approved before being worn at an event.

If you meet these guidelines and wish to apply for the South Dakota Ghostbusters Proton Pack Rookie Program in 2026, please complete the provided form. We will contact you via email after reviewing your submission.

Acceptance into the Rookie Program does not automatically grant full membership. You will be invited to selected events to interact with the team so we can determine if you are a good fit. After a period of time, if we feel the fit is right, you will be offered full membership. At that point, yearly membership dues will apply.
